As a school executive, it is crucial to effectively management conflicts that may arise throughout the course of the year. One of the best methods to alleviate stress with conflict is through frequent communication between stakeholders. Below is an example of a situation that I was able to prevent from escalating due to preventative communication between parents and teachers, regarding a student's behavior. As an administrator, it is also key to follow up with these situations to accurately monitor them and prevent issues from escalating.

Crucial Conversations with Staff
|
This year, I was responsible for posting to our school's Facebook page about celebrations and upcoming events that were held at the school. We found that despite other avenues of mass contacting being available, including our district's app and the Connect-Ed all-call system, the best method of communication to reach our parents was through the Facebook page.

School executives are responsible for providing clear expectations for staff to maintain order and structure within their school building. Our school underwent a major safety overhaul during the year and it was my responsibility to provide clear instructions to the staff to send to all stakeholders. I sent out a Connect Ed through our system and had students receive a flyer in their Tuesday folders.
