Community Internship at the Jo Story Senior Center
The Jo Story Senior Center is a community organization dedicated to providing the highest quality services and amenities to our aging population. Currently, the Center serves over 500 community members age 55-95, per week. At the Jo Story Senior Center, we strive to provide services to promote wellness, encourage independence, develop social & recreational activities, & provide local transportation. Anyone age 55 or better is encouraged to come exercise, check out any of our classes, games, and activities, or just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and fellowship! Free transportation is provided to anyone 60 and over that lives within a mile of the city limits of Roanoke Rapids.

During my time at this facility, I was able to sit in on departmental meetings, plan a Fourth of July Community event, and develop lasting relationships to encourage a symbiotic relationship between the Senior Center and Belmont Elementary School.
